This item from XLC is available in a handy workshop-style box that includes 100 cables. As soon as you start to notice any fraying on your current brake cables, or perhaps they're not as reactive as they used to be and have stretched, it's best to replace them with some good quality inners to maintain safe stopping on your bike. Each cable is 1.6mm in diameter and is designed specifically for mountain bike brakes. The inners are also galvanised (a process that coats them in zinc), which helps prevent rusting inside the outers and thus lasts longer than uncoated cables.
