A bike’s chain is the component that makes it a bicycle, transferring the force you apply to the pedals through cogs and gears and into forwarding motion. Literally, a length of links, the chain needs a locking element to connect one end to the other, and that’s where the XLC Spring Cap CC-X01 comes in. The XLC Spring Cap CC-X01 is a chain lock specifically designed for 1 1/8 inch chains used with geared hubs. That is, where the gearing is integrated into the hub of the bike’s rear wheel. So the chain is more or less a single-speed chain – it is exposed to different forces and is not required to shift between external gears.
