Via the small wireless unit EW-WU111, the Di2 system gets in contact with the outside world via ANT private protocol and connects without any problems with various types of terminal devices, which are able to display the respective gear as well as the level of the Di2 battery. However, communication between EW-WU111 (Di2 system) and smartphones or tablets which offer the possibility by the new eTube app for mobiles to carry out assignments of functions, switch assignments, multi and synchro-shift settings and install firmware upgrades on the components. Of course, it is still possible to connect the Di2 system with the PC via USB cable of the charger.
