The XLC DO-A89 derailleur hanger is a two-piece hanger that is mounted to the rear dropout of your frame on the drive-side and to the rear derailleur. It acts as a defence mechanism to protect your frame from damage if you crash on the drive-side, bending or breaking instead of your frame. These hangers are designed to be consumable items, and you'll be lucky if one hanger lasts the entire lifespan of your bike, but only because you're likely to pull the derailleur out of alignment at some point. The DO-A89 comes with three and four holes for attachment and is unique in its design. Thus, check that your current hanger matches this one before purchasing.
